Do I Have To Choose One Area Of Assistance For A Career Coaching Session?

No. Although it is recommended based on time restraints and adequate preparation to focus on one career coaching service for a three hour session, the coaching session areas may be adjusted, based on a specific candidate request.

What Are The Various Career Coaching Areas I May Choose For Assistance In A One - Three Hour Training Session?

Can I Do More Than One Career Coaching Session In A One Day Period?

Yes. Firehouse Training offers best value pricing for candidates participating in various stages of the hiring process and require assistance in more than one area at once, can choose any two coaching sessions in a one day period and receive a discounted price. However, many of our candidates often choose one session per day, based on the current hiring process step they are currently involved and book additional sessions in the future as required. Two session pricing is set a discounted rate of $425.00 plus HST (6 Hours Coaching).

What Is All Included In A Career Coaching Session?

Each three hour career coaching session will consist of a private training session to assist the candidate in any of the following areas of their choice…including application preparation, resume and cover letter, written aptitude test tutoring, NFPA Level I & II Standardized Provincial Test preparation, technical firefighter skills training (OFAI Stage III) and panel mock interview preparation and practice.

As we conclude our 3 hour session, Firehouse Training will be providing the candidate with a documented action plan, outlining additional steps to use as you go forward into the firefighter hiring process.

Upon request, a reference letter of attendance is also issued to the candidate for application portfolio purposes to confirm participation in our firefighter recruitment coaching services.

oes Firehouse Training offer additional courses for candidates looking to expand their resume?

Firehouse Training offers training courses in various specialized firefighter disciplines under the NFPA 1001 and 1006 Training Standards. Various courses include, but are not limited to the following:

Where are the Firehouse Training facilities located?

To ensure professionalism and recruitment training at the highest standards, face-to-face career coaching meetings and training courses will be held at the Firehouse Training / Total Rescue Training Facility on 6006 Highway 6, Elora, ON N0B 1S0. This training centre is located 20 minutes north of the City of Guelph on Highway 6, in the small hamlet of Ennotville.

Firehouse Training also runs classroom, live fire, burn tower training programs at the Grimsby Regional Fire Training Centre at 167 Mountain Road, Grimsby, ON L3M 4E7. This facility is a regional training centre, for the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Are Your Courses In Accordance With NFPA 1001 And 1006 Standard For Technical Rescue Personnel?

YesAll Firehouse Training courses meet or exceed NFPA Firefighter Professional Standards and Qualifications, and is indicated on your course certificate of attendance upon completion. All training and courses are in accordance with NFPA operations and industry best practices, by meeting specific job performance requirements, and obtaining skills and competency through successful completion of in-class testing. All NFPA Standards are reviewed to ensure student competency is met. 

Does Firehouse Training Offer Online Training Certifications?

Yes, we offer an array of over 800 online training classes, e-learning programs and training options available through our website at https://firehousetraining.ca/canada-wide-services/online-training/

We also offer virtual training classes with live instructors, and scenario-based training via Zoom video-conferencing each month. This online content is all to the NFPA Standard for Professional Qualifications and industry best practices. We offer everything from advanced hazardous materials response, high-rise firefighting, technical rescue programs, incident command training, leadership fundamentals to mental health awareness just to name a few. Many of our programs are now offered in a virtual format option, as well as in our classroom. Do You Offer Discounts If I Bring A Friend Or Group Of People Interested In The Same Services?

Yes. Firehouse Training will offer additional discounts and deals for any individual who would like to bring a friend, or have a small group attend any private career coaching session or training course. Please inquire with Firehouse Training for additional information.

Are Lunches Included In Your Training Courses?

Yes. A catered lunch is provided for any of our full day on-site firefighter training courses. Coffee, donuts, muffins, water and juice among other items are also available during the morning of each training course. Lunches are generally not provided for those candidates arriving for a three hour career coaching session.

How Often Do You Run Career Coaching Sessions And Firefighter Training Courses?

Firehouse Training runs a career coaching session day one weekend per month, and one firefighter training course one weekend each month. Spots for each training day are open until registration is full, on a first come first serve basis. It is always best to register as early as possible, as spots due to registration fill up quickly. Once registration for our one day a month session is full, Firehouse Training may opt to open a second training day or move those candidates into the next month’s coaching sessions.

How Do The Firefighter Technical Skills Training Sessions Work?

During the OFAI Stage III skills refresher session, you will have opportunity to practice each skill in our state of the art facility, and work one-on-one with our instructor through the each skill requirement as outlined in OFAI Stage Three testing format. You will have an opportunity to use your review notes from our session, and identify each critical pass and fail as required during this test. This training is based on the practical firefighter skill requirements as outlined by the Firefighter I & II provincial NFPA 1001 sign-offs. This training standard as set out by the Office of the Fire Marshal, and IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting 6th Edition textbook. You will also demonstrate each skill in real time, and will debrief upon completion. How does Firehouse Training provide safe training initiatives in their courses?

Firehouse Training is an advocate for safe training and utilizes Fire Service Section 21 Health & Safety guidelines, to take every reasonable precaution for the protection of firefighter students involved in training; this includes the development of a written lesson and training safety plan, for all of our training evolutions. With the continued use of an on-site, pre-training hazard and risk assessment, we provide an overview and enforcement of the use of personal protective equipment, and appropriate instructor to student ratio; Firehouse Training works hard to emphasize safety in each and every training program.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

Firehouse Training Cancellation Policy

All course or career coaching cancellations made within 5 business days of a scheduled training date, are subject to payment for the full cost of the training, by registered credit card. All sessions are scheduled in advance including room rental, equipment and lunch catering. Fire service teaching staff are also pre-booked to ensure class safety and instructor to student ratios are met.
